The Holistic Equine Rehabilitation Team (HERT) recognizes an overwhelming need to support existing horse rescues in their mission of rehabilitating and rehoming horses during this transition.
The initial HERT core team is made up of Holistic Horse Care Cooperative members:
Janet Crow-Natural Horse Power, LLC;
Dr. Allen Landes-Equine Medical Service;
William Pelkey-Equigetics, LLC;
Robin Phelps-Absolute Wellness;
Sloan Foley, Mustang Hollow.
“Our goal is to achieve rehabilitation using holistic practices,” Comments Janet. “We all connected through the Holistic Horse Care Cooperative (HHCC). Along with HHCC, we share a desire to give back to the horse community by helping the rescue horse fulfill his potential and to find a forever home. We are very excited to be able to facilitate this with holistic measures and teamwork. It feels good to be part of the solution for these rescued horses.”
HERTs first case is the rehabilitation of 2 rescue thoroughbreds that were given up because the owner was unable to feed them. They arrived at Mustang Hollow, a holistic horsekeeping ranch in Northern Colorado, on January 13, 2012 where they are being fostered and will live during the rehabilitation process.
The team will evaluate, develop a progressive plan of treatment for rehabilitation with the shortest duration possible, institute the treatments, and perform a final evaluation prior to placement of these 2 horses in forever homes.
Reports and photos of their progression will be posted weekly and shared through the Holistic Horse Care Cooperative network so that we all may learn what these horses have to teach us. Follow their progress on www.Holistic-Herd.com and on Facebook at
