RASTA
A TRIBUTE FOR LOVING SERVICE FOR 33+ YEARS
“He ran his race for the roses and won”
By Sharon Bringleson
Rasta taught his human students how to live from the heart.
The rose flower carries the highest frequency in the plant
kingdom and helps us attune to the vibration of higher love.
Following his transition, he asked Sharon to be buried with red roses around his neck, honoring and respecting that as a black horse, carrying the black horse wisdom—the knowledge that our culture suppresses— that he had run the distance of his life with Heart and Spirit and won—He had run for the Roses. He shared that his heart had burst in his transition to symbolize what he had been teaching Sharon and the humans, to live with our hearts open to our gifts and to embrace our lives…..to run our own race with our gifts and honor and respect our Life and Truth.
He lived with great forebearance and gentleness. He did not
suffer emotional incongruence in humans. He allowed Suzie, a dog friend to eat from his bowl with him. He carried deep grief from being weaned from his mother too early and from inhumane treatment, yet he taught forgiveness and compassion when people came to learn from him.
He and Sharon shared their lives for over 23 years. He held the sacred space of possibility for Sharon to learn courage—to have the heart to run her own race. They co-founded the
Center for Horses and Healing in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2006. www.centerforhorsesandhealing.com
